Paul M. Despres, ND
Executive Director, Volunteering Practitioner
Paul began volunteering for Integrative Care Outreach as a medical student in 2013 assisting practitioners at Frye Apartment Building Clinic downtown Seattle. With a passion to address the root cause of illness, he quickly found himself drawn to those who lack resources to sustain wellness and those who lack access to high-quality, integrative medicine. He is personally invested in improving the health equity of all by bringing medicine directly to the people and giving everyone a voice.
His journey into medicine began at the University of Michigan completing his medical school requirements and receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish. Interested in empowering patients back to health and emphasizing disease prevention, Paul’s values resonated with the Naturopathic Medicine philosophy and so he enrolled at Bastyr University in September 2011. Bastyr provided a solid foundation in basic sciences and clinical education in addition to taking extra classes in nutrition, botanical medicine, massage therapy, visceral manipulation, depuration, chronic disease management, nature cure, toxicology, and mind body medicine. Upon graduation in June 2016, his mission was to humbly address the mental, emotional, and physical needs of Seattle’s increasing homeless and low-income populations. He was appointed Executive Director of ICO on January 1st, 2017, with hopes of broadening and strengthening ICO’s efforts to care for those in need.
